IndyCar and Camping

What Does IndyCar and Camping Have in Common?

Glad you asked:

I was reading over some camping articles the other day and came across one titled “IndyCar Series starts this weekend”

Not making the connection between Indy Cars and camping I started reading through the article to try and find out what the connection was.

Come to find out starting in 2008 Camping World will be the sponsor for NASCARS Top Developmental Series.

It will be called the Camping World Grand Prix being held in its first year at Watkins Glen located in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York.

Now, if you’re both a NASCAR fan and you love to go camping, Watkins Glen has camping sites both inside the track and outside. You can find out how to make reservations on their website at
www.TheGlen.com/Camping

Happy Camping :-)

    Camping World Grand Prix? hmmm I think it kinda spoils it. It’s like calling an African safari a travel African Safari grand Prix! I think it would spoil it. There is something so natural about camping that adding words like grand prix kind of spoils. At least thats what I think.

    I agree with you that combining Camping and Grand Prix doesn’t fit very well and may even spoil the thought of a peaceful camping experience, but I think you may have a few Grand Prix Fans that may disagree with you.

    I’m sure that there are some that would tell you that a camping spot right next the the race track would make for the perfect camping trip.

    I actually prefer to get away to the beautiful and peaceful North Cascade Mountains where you can hear an acorn drop from a mile away. (-;

    Camping at the races is great. Back in the Sixties I use to camp out at the Glen for the Formula One races. it was a huge party. Racing and camping have always gone together.

    This last weekend I was at Daytona for the race and it was also a great time. These days I no longer use a 2 person tent but now I use an SUV tent that I find to be both comfortable and really convenient.

    I think I will be combining racing and camping for a long time to come.

Got something to say?
